What do I need to know before having an ultrasound?
Before you have an ultrasound, it is important to be well prepared. Make sure you have all the necessary documents with you, such as your ID and any referrals from your doctor. It is also advisable to write down your questions and concerns in advance so that you can discuss them during the appointment. Remember to be dressed comfortably so that you feel comfortable during the procedure. Good hydration can also help, so drink plenty of water before your appointment. Personal attention is our priority, so don't hesitate to ask anything you want to know.
What is looked at during an ultrasound?
An ultrasound examines the development of the baby and the health of the mother. The sonographer checks, among other things, the baby's heart rate, growth and position. In addition, the organs and the placenta are assessed to ensure that everything is going well. It is also a time to ask any questions and learn more about the pregnancy. Our experienced sonographers take the time to explain everything clearly and make sure you feel comfortable.
What can be seen on an ultrasound?
During an ultrasound you get a unique insight into your baby's development. The sonographer can measure the heart rate, monitor growth and check the position of the baby. The organs and placenta are also assessed to ensure the health of both the mother and the unborn child. This is a valuable time to ask questions and learn more about your pregnancy. With us, experienced sonographers ensure that you feel comfortable and that everything is explained clearly.
How is the ultrasound made?
An ultrasound uses advanced technology that converts sound waves into images. The sonographer applies a special gel to the pregnant woman's abdomen to ensure good conduction. A transducer is then moved over the skin, resulting in a live image of the baby in the womb. This procedure is painless and safe, and offers a unique opportunity to monitor your child's development. Our experienced sonographers ensure that you feel comfortable and that you get all the information you need.
Are children allowed to be present during an ultrasound?

Yes, children are very welcome at a (fun) ultrasound. It can be a wonderful experience to watch the development of their brother or sister together with your other children. It is important to prepare them well for what to expect so that they feel comfortable during the examination. With a fun ultrasound such as the gender ultrasound, we ensure that the environment is safe and comfortable for everyone. Our sonographers take the time to involve the children in the process and show them how special an ultrasound is.

However, a screening ultrasound such as the 13 and 20 week ultrasound may also take too long for young children. The sonographer must also be able to concentrate on not missing anything in the baby's development and detecting any abnormalities. If there is any deviation, this will be discussed with you immediately. That is why we strongly advise against taking young children with you for these ultrasound scans.
