Have an ultrasound done

When can you have an ultrasound done?

  • From six weeks of pregnancy we can see via an ultrasound whether a pregnancy is visible. It must have been at least two weeks since you had a positive pregnancy test.
  • The term ultrasound takes place around ten to twelve weeks of pregnancy.
  • We perform the 13 week ultrasound scan between 12 and 14 weeks
  • We can perform a gender determination ultrasound around 14 - 16 weeks.
  • The 20-week ultrasound takes place around 19-20 weeks.
  • We can perform a 3/4 D ultrasound around 24 - 28 weeks.
  • Other ultrasound scans such as growth, position and localization of the placenta are performed at the practice if there is reason to do so.

Important to know

It is important to read the information below before we perform an ultrasound:

Privacy protection:

  • A screening ultrasound is a medical examination; preferably take as few people as possible. Please do not bring children.
  • We handle your data with care, including the images taken during the ultrasound examinations. We comply with the obligations under the European privacy law, the GDPR and other legislation, such as the WGBO:

a. Provision of data for good care
With your permission to perform the ultrasound examination, we may assume that you agree to the provision of your data to other healthcare providers to the extent necessary for the provision of good care. This involves making data available in Peridos to the applicants for the ultrasound examination and other healthcare providers involved, such as (for example after referral) doctors from the (Academic) hospital, as well as other exchanges of information with the applicant.

b. Exchange of your data for quality purposes
We would like to explicitly inform you about the possible anonymous use of the ultrasound images and any other data from your file for quality purposes. To ensure that the quality of our care is monitored and improved where possible, we share your data with others for quality purposes.

First of all, we enter the data from screening tests in which you have participated in the national data system Peridos. These can be viewed by the Regional Centers after the screening ultrasound has been performed. Their task is to monitor the quality of the screening. If you object to this access to your personal data, you can report this to your healthcare provider (midwife or ultrasound technician) who will ensure that your personal data is removed from Peridos. This means that the screening data can no longer be traced back to you as a person.

In addition, we must regularly send ultrasound images to Regional Centers in the context of quality audits. If you object to this, we will not do this with the images of your screening examination. If you have your personal data removed from Peridos by the healthcare provider (midwife or ultrasound technician) after the screening, these can no longer be traced back to you as a person and therefore not by the Regional Center and your ultrasound images can no longer be requested from the Echo center.
If you only object to sending screening images to the Regional Center in your data in Peridos, you can report this to us and we will not use these images.

In addition, we also use the images of the (screening) examinations and any other data from your file to discuss case studies with midwives, doctors and ultrasound technicians at PND and the academic hospital. The purpose of this discussion is to view each other's images, to learn from each other to improve quality. We ensure as much as possible that your data cannot be directly traced back to you as a person. If you indicate that you object to this data sharing, we will not use your data for this quality assessment.

Do not take photos or videos

It is not permitted to film or photograph the research without our permission. We refer to the KNMG guideline Recording conversations by patients. If it turns out that you have made video recordings, we have the right to take measures against this. Filing a report with the police is one of the options. Making video recordings without the consent of those involved is a criminal offense. Even if you only use the recording for private purposes.

NO SHOW POLICY

If you cannot come to the appointment, please cancel with the practice assistants at least 24 hours in advance. There may be force majeure, please let us know as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, it still happens regularly that patients do not show up for their appointment without canceling in advance or that they arrive late. We find that very annoying, because other patients sometimes have to wait and the sonographer is there for nothing and also has to be paid, that would not have been necessary if they had canceled in time.

• We are entitled to charge a fee of 35 euros if you do not show up for your 20-minute appointment without canceling and there is no force majeure.
• We are entitled to charge a fee of 50 euros if you do not show up for your 40-minute appointment without canceling and there is no force majeure.
• In case of cancellation of an appointment that has already been paid for via the online calendar (at least 24 hours in advance), we will refund the costs but we are forced to charge an administration fee of 5 euros.
