Ultrasound for vaginal bleeding

If you have vaginal bleeding, always contact your midwife, she will refer you for an ultrasound if she thinks it is necessary.

Vaginal bleeding can have various causes. Bleeding in the first months of pregnancy is often harmless and will stop on its own. There may also be a miscarriage. This is usually accompanied by menstrual or contraction-like pain. The ultrasound for vaginal bleeding checks whether the pregnancy is still intact and whether the ultrasound can find a cause for the blood loss.

This ultrasound is on medical indication and is reimbursed by insurance twice per pregnancy
