Term echo

The Term Ultrasound is done to calculate how long you have been pregnant and what your due date is. This ultrasound is preferably performed around 10 – 12 weeks of pregnancy. You can also have this ultrasound performed earlier, but it is less reliable and often has to be repeated later.
It is also checked whether the pregnancy is in the uterus, whether it is an intact pregnancy, i.e. whether the heart is beating, and whether it is a single or multiple pregnancy. In addition, the baby's structures are assessed. This ultrasound is usually performed externally, i.e. via the abdomen. It is useful for this if you have a full bladder.

Everyone has a vaginal ultrasound before 10 weeks of pregnancy. So no ultrasound through the abdomen. A vaginal ultrasound is not painful and not harmful to the pregnancy. This ultrasound is vaginal because it brings you closer to the uterus and we can therefore determine your due date more accurately. A vaginal ultrasound gives a much better picture and the nice thing about it is that you can see your baby better.

It is useful to know that your bladder must be empty during a vaginal ultrasound.

A term ultrasound is only reimbursed once by the health insurer. If you want a term ultrasound or an extra term ultrasound earlier, you must pay for this yourself. The costs for this are 55 euros

For 3.50 euros, the sonographer will take separate photos and images for you, which you will receive via your phone.
